This is some sample work from the students from Thomastown Secondary College, as part of the Artist in Residence Program in 2021, through Regional Arts Victoria.
The unit was taught partially on site & partially online.
Students worked collaboratively as they explored their creative voices using photography, visual art, music, dance, poetry and animation.
‘How to find a story’ was co-created with 6-8' year olds during Term 4 at St Martins Youth Arts Centre for, St Martins Live Event, 4040
‘What I find here’ was designed for Primary school students through Flag Inc’s, School Holiday workshop program, during Melbourne’s lockdown in 2020.
As an educator and facilitator Amelia has worked as a Teaching Artist for St Martins Youth Arts Centre since 2014 and at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (Acmi).
In 2017 she was the Education and Outreach Officer at the Whitlam Institute within the University of Western Sydney, creating and facilitating excursion programs for Primary and High School students in Western Sydney. These programs were designed to enable young people to connect to their personal values and voice, through a range of creative activities. .
In 2018 and 2019 Amelia worked as a collaborating Artist with Polyglot theatre’s 5678 Film Club.
She has also been working with Flag Inc since 2018, on their major project Human After All, with Banksia Community Services.
In 2019 & 2020, Amelia worked with Back to Back theatre as part of their CAMP youth program.
In 2021, she worked with Regional Arts Victoria as part of their Artist in Schools program- facilitating a creative workshop program for students in Years 9/10 at Thomastown Secondary College.
She also worked with House of Muchness, as a collaborator / videographer for the documentary project ‘LIKE THIS’, created with ten young people talking about their experiences of social media. This project was funded by CHILD WISE and screened through a closed online forum.
